Trees for Us Project

Fight against climate change by planting trees and increasing green space

Promote trees planting in wilderness areas, public places, temples, schools, cemeteries, road sides etc. depends on local needs and conditions

Proposed locations are:

North: Wiang Pa Pao District of Chiang Rai Province
Northeastern: Ban Phai District of Khon Khan Province
Central: Sai York District of Kanchanaburi Province
South: Klong Toom District of Krabi Province

Trees seedling are encouraged by public and private donations, including general public who wants to participate but do not have time. Each tree planted will be monitored and maintained by the community.

Population and Community Development Association (PDA)

The Population and Community Development Association (PDA), one of the largest NGOs in Thailand, was established in 1974 and has concentrated on reaching rural towns and villages with family planning and development programmes through its regional centres. It has operated on the belief that “local people are best suited to shape and sustain their own development.”

Since the early 1980s, PDA has adopted a small-scale, people-oriented approach to community forest programmes under project Reforestation of 1 Million Rai supported by PTT Public Company Limited.

Implementation

Agenda base : setting goals based on understanding local needs and want, increasing green space and creating a culture of tree planting
Functional base : planning, practicing and attaining results by encouraging cooperation among public and private sectors, including educational institutions and religious institutions

Set up district forest committees

Select committee leaders

Conduct monthly meeting and training

Select appropriate trees seedling sites

Build trees seedling nursery

Organize trees planting campaign

Organize trees planting activities

Follow up and monitoring

Report evaluation

Each tree planted will be monitored and maintained by the community

3. Enter amount and agree the information to be sent to Revenue Department of Thailand
